AMTRAK TRAIN CRASH IN RICHMOND KILLS MAN

A 27 year-old man driving a Honda Accord died when his car was hit by an Amtrak train in Richmond, CA. Apparently the driver went around the boom barrier before he was struck. The car vs. train accident occurred at 6pm at Cutting Blvd. near Carlson Blvd in Richmond. The fatal crash is under investigation. The Capitol Corridor is an Amtrak rail route which runs from the SF Bay Area to Sacramento, parallel to I-880. Union Pacific Railroad owns the train track at the crash site. This crash is under investigation by local, Amtrak and Union Pacific authorities.
